2024 SEASON SHOW CONCEPT

Now in it’s 2nd season, The Symphony Orchestra Project is a program that offers a semi-professional experience for musicians/artists in grades 8-12 in the Horry County Schools Area. With over 80 students participating in it’s inaugural season in 2023, The Project was brought to life by Clinton Patton when he returned to finish his degree at Coastal Carolina University and he decided that his final project would be to create, rehearse, and perform an entire Symphony Orchestra made up of full Winds (Brass & Woodwinds), Strings, Percussion, and also Choir. These young musicians were able to come together and, after 4 months of rehearsal, perform a number cinematic arrangements from popular movies and videogames.

The program is continuing after a successful first season and even incorporating elements of Art, Poetry/Spoken word, and Dance along with its musical component as well. The 2024 Show is entitled “Where Our Minds Go…” and will dive into the places we allow our minds to wander when we find ourselves sitting idle, as well as some aspects of mental health awareness.

MEET OUR TEAMS

Shows do not write themselves. We have adults and students working in tandem to create 60-80 minute shows each season. When signing up for the Symphony Orchestra Project, any of these teams are available to choose.
